The end of an era it seems...
So, after six years, I am finally retiring my old pink Sony Vaio. "Sarah" as I had dubbed her, was a delightful and beautiful accident to my homework addition and my Master of Ceremonies career. It takes a man well secure in his life to rock a pink laptop to spin music off of while rocking the mic at a tattoo expo.
Sarah has been a faithful companion through rough and hard times, but she almost wasn't a treasure at all. She was a conciliatory prize when my hopeful engagement decided to chase my friend (instead of homeless guys, her usual fetish).
Yeah, she was about that easy.
The plan about midway through my community college career was to propose after buying a $500 engagement ring off of Amazon. I knew that I could always have it re-sized but I took a guess on the size and place the order. A few moments later that day, she was due to meet me in the cafeteria. She tells me "I'm sorry, I can't kiss you today. I feel gross after working out in the gym today and I haven't had a shower." "It's okay, I can still kiss you anyway." She pushes me aside and goes to sit to eat. Until my friend arrived with a tray of food... At which point she jumps up in delight, squeels, runs to him, glompfs him, rubs her sweaty self all over him, and kisses his cheek. Needless to say, we all said upon observing:

Some might say I' m "Slut Shaming" but....

If the shoe fits... lace it up!
Suffice it say, I cancelled the order for the ring and got my money back that hour. To best use my finds, I decided under advise of my circle of friends observing to go and invest in a new laptop. To Best Buy I went! There, in a wonderful Half off the already HALF OFF marked price was a $1200 Sony Vaio. An amazing machine that I felt would be all I needed for homework, DJ work, writing, and what have you. I had them take it out of the box only to discover.... It was pink...
She was perfect!
Like all my electronics, she needed a name. I dubbed her "Sarah", because it just sounded pretty. After posting a lovely and pretty Pin Up wall paper, she was mine to take to school.
When everyone arrived to see my new toy the next day, everyone smiled. There was the usual titter of jokes about my rocking masculinity. Then "She" showed up...
"Oh, you got a new laptop?" "Yeah, It was about 360 bucks." "Really, that's not bad." "Yeah, I had it earmarked for an engagement ring but... She wanted somebody else when she felt 'gross' around me."
"Can we talk about that?!" She says in tears... "Nope, you go have fun with him" I tell her.
For years, Sarah was a long term faithful companion through thick and thin. She helped me spin music for many of the tattoo expos I worked and helped me graduate. She helped me apply for jobs and even helped me keep one while we worked together.
Unfortunately, Sarah has been getting old and slow.
So its come time to retire her. I started with a fast, slick, and tiny little Chromebook that I dubbed Emma Frost. Emma apparently had code problems and decided to telepathically erase herself sometime this week. After having her for only two, weeks, I took her in to acquire my latest and newest companion for writing work and future study. I now have a slick little black beauty I have dubbed "Felicia Hardy". Or "Black Cat" for the comics inclined.
For now, I begin working on new projects and we'll see where Felicia takes me. I'll be looking at ways to see if she can spin music as well as "Sarah" did. Who knows.
For now, I rest assured knowing that the most important woman in my life and I are on a grand adventure. She has my heart and soul and I couldn't be happier.

See that face... That's joy!
I don't have to worry about her. I don't. I can trust her implicitly and enjoy her for all that she is. I don't have to worry about being left behind for "better".
So for my Sarah, I say goodbye and I will remember all that you gave to me.
Music in my head:
I'll Remember by Madonna
